Oil Pulling

Hi lovebugs!!! This post is a little different from my usual topic. You won't see my face for a change. =)) But it is still one of my beauty routines. Some of you may know that I like to use natural home remedies (e.g., baking soda and apple cider vinegar for my hair and scalp). In this post we are going to talk about Oil Pulling. What is it? What are the benefits? :-?

Oil Pulling, also known as kavala graha (swished) or snigda gandoosha (held) in the mouth is an Ancient dental technique.

So this supposed to improve your oral health and overall health. Some of the listed benefits are whiter teeth and better breath (especially in the morning). Also a benefit in conditions like headaches, migraines, asthma and sleeping problems. Apparently this procedure pulls out the toxins out of your body.

I don't quite remember how I found out about Oil Pulling, but I was interested so I did my research. I've been doing it for about 3 weeks now. I'm not really sure if my teeth are whiter than before, but this stuff sure does work for headaches (hangovers! :-& my new savior!) and migraines. I haven't taken any aspirin for migraines since. I also have asthma, but I've been good. :D

Dental professionals say this shouldn't replace your regular dental visit and traditional at-home oral care. Read more here

HOW TO OIL PULL?

  • Pick your oil. I picked coconut oil. Because I like the taste of it. :P And make sure it's organic.
  • Put about a tablespoon of oil in your mouth.
  • Swish it around for 20 minutes. No need to do it too hard. Remember you will be swishing for 20 minutes. DON'T SWALLOW! I usually do this in the morning when I'm getting ready.
  • Spit it out in the trash. Why in the trash? Because you don't want to clog your sink when it solidify. Gargle with warm water. Brush your teeth!

That's it! Give it a try. Nothing to lose right? And let me know how it worked for you. :)

ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

"Friends pick us up when we fall down, and if they can't pick us up, they lay down and listen for a while."

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, is an activity involving dumping a bucket of ice water on someone's head to promote awareness of the disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and encourage donations to research. Thanks again Wiki! B-) What is Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis? ALS is also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease - is a progressive neuromuscular disease in which nerve cells die and leave voluntary muscles paralyzed. To learn and more and donate please click this ALS.

End of the Summer

"Summer always ends with good memories."

The days are getting shorter, swimsuit sales, no more BBQ parties, leaves are falling, back to school, we wear socks again and football begins - the signs that Summer is almost over. :-S But I hope you all had an amazing Summer 2014. :)

Labour Day

"The most confused we ever get is when we're trying to convince our heads of something our heart knows is a lie." - Karen Marie Moning

Hello love bugs!!! :-h Happy Labour Day! Hope you all had an amazing last long weekend of summer. As for me I was able to get some much needed sleep and spent time with my family. :D

Here is the outfit I put together for Labour Day. Proud to say my top and hat were locally made/designed by Loyal Coalition. :)

Loyal Coalition, formerly known as LYL Apparel, was founded in the Spring 2013 in Vancouver, BC. By brand co-creators Ami and Heather. Their clothing can be described as urban infused casual wear. Which pays close attention to quality of fabrics being used while incorporating clean lines and comfort in to all of their designs. I swear they have the softest and most comfortable clothing I've worn in quite sometime. The hat that I'm wearing is beautifully made! Fits comfortably on my head (I have a big head literally). ~X( You can notice the attention to detail through the stitching.  Use code "Amal" for 15% off and you get a free wristband!

Loyal Coalition and yours truly (My Instagram) are going to announce a giveaway on our Instagram accounts for our supporters shortly, so please stay tuned! :x Luv y'all! :-*
