Winter is Coming

Where are your thoughts going? That is where your life will soon be. - Ralph Marston

This quote reminds me of what my grandma always used to tell us. "Whatever comes out of your lips is what's going to happen in your life." That made me try to be always optimistic. Thanks Lola! :) (for those of you who don't know what Lola is, it means Grandma in Tagalog)

I hope you are all having a good Autumn season so far. It's been really cold here in Vancouver. Brrr... Layer, layer and more layers! For layering tips check out my Blogiversary post. :)

So here was my outfit when I went for dim sum with friends last Sunday. I layered my tunic top with a furry sweater to give it more of an edgy look. Tunic tops can be a versatile piece of clothing if paired correctly. It's one of those friendly pieces that take your style from fall straight to summer. I like the fabric most tunic tops are made of, because they are very comfy and breathable. Although I was freezing, I had to take off my jacket to show all of you the details. Things bloggers do. :)) Just a little tip if you want to rock a tunic top, pair it with a slimmer or slender bottom (skinny jeans, straight cut pants or leggings). DO NOT wear it with skirt. :)

I'm also wearing my new Luminous Necklace set from Pretty Girl Swag. Oh my gawd, I love it! :x This set is extremely elegant and pretty. The best part is - it's affordable! Don't forget to use code "AMAL" for 15% off your purchase! ;)

By the way did you guys notice that my hair is back to black?! If not, now you do. :P Thank you for stopping by! :-*

Breaking all the Rules

"For the risk takers and rule breakers. We are MissGuided."

Welcome back! I hope you all had a lovely weekend! :)

So here is the outfit that I wore last Saturday. Lately I've been getting creative with layering as the temperature continues to drop. It's time to warm up in a faux fur vest. This vest from MissGuided is perfect! I love how soft it is and to boot it is quite reasonably price. I feel so rad wearing it! B-) It is not too late to get yours now. MissGuided has exceptionally fast shipping considering it came all the way from U.K. to Vancouver, BC, Canada (I ordered it on Thursday and got it on Tuesday without paying extra shipping fees).

Having a vest in your closet is a must, because it will be your ticket for the trendy looks during cold seasons. ;) At first, I was going to wear this vest with black leather pants and black long sleeves. But I decided to be more playful on the last minute. Dug deeper in my closet and found this skirt that I bought years ago. Thank gawd it still fits! Yay! Best feeling ever! <:-P (excuse my big thighs) lol

If you have any layering tips to share please feel free to comment below or hit me up on my Instagram
. Thanks for dropping by and see you again next time! :-*

Keep scrolling... I'm just being silly. :P

Blogiversary ♥

"Compliment people.

Magnify their strengths,
not their weaknesses.
-Unknown-"

Hi lovebugs!!! Hope you're all doing well. :)

It's been almost a year since I decided to embark on this journey! I still remember my very first post for Thanksgiving 2013. Wow time flies! #:-S I am very thankful for all the blessings I received and for each one of you for being so supportive. I know I still have a lot to learn, but I am hoping that you will all continue to be there for me in my future endeavors. You guys are my inspiration. From the bottom of my heart thank you so much. I love y'all! :-*

So here is my first fall 2014 outfit post. What a beautiful weekend weather we had here in Vancouver. Sunny with the right amount of breeze. When the temperature drops, it's all about layering. :) This could be tricky though, because most women are scared to look bigger. But once mastered not only it will keep you warm, it will also make you look sleek.

When layering you have to play with the texture. Don't use the same fabrics as this will give you that look of unwanted extra weight. Remember you want to be stylish and not sloppy. ;)

As you can see I am wearing my beanie from Loyal Coalition, my favorite plaid shirt and put a cardigan on top of it. Since I'm wearing big and comfy top I had to go with body-hugging pants and matched it with high heels! Sexy urban style. ;)

Thanks to my awesome photographer Benjamin Stutterheim for taking these photos! He just knows my angles and always finds the perfect places.

Oh, if you want this beanie you can get it from Loyal Coalition for only $10 or get it for free if you spend $40 or more. And of course don't forget to use discount code "Amal" to save 15%. B-)

Oil Pulling

Hi lovebugs!!! This post is a little different from my usual topic. You won't see my face for a change. =)) But it is still one of my beauty routines. Some of you may know that I like to use natural home remedies (e.g., baking soda and apple cider vinegar for my hair and scalp). In this post we are going to talk about Oil Pulling. What is it? What are the benefits? :-?

Oil Pulling, also known as kavala graha (swished) or snigda gandoosha (held) in the mouth is an Ancient dental technique.

So this supposed to improve your oral health and overall health. Some of the listed benefits are whiter teeth and better breath (especially in the morning). Also a benefit in conditions like headaches, migraines, asthma and sleeping problems. Apparently this procedure pulls out the toxins out of your body.

I don't quite remember how I found out about Oil Pulling, but I was interested so I did my research. I've been doing it for about 3 weeks now. I'm not really sure if my teeth are whiter than before, but this stuff sure does work for headaches (hangovers! :-& my new savior!) and migraines. I haven't taken any aspirin for migraines since. I also have asthma, but I've been good. :D

Dental professionals say this shouldn't replace your regular dental visit and traditional at-home oral care. Read more here

HOW TO OIL PULL?

  • Pick your oil. I picked coconut oil. Because I like the taste of it. :P And make sure it's organic.
  • Put about a tablespoon of oil in your mouth.
  • Swish it around for 20 minutes. No need to do it too hard. Remember you will be swishing for 20 minutes. DON'T SWALLOW! I usually do this in the morning when I'm getting ready.
  • Spit it out in the trash. Why in the trash? Because you don't want to clog your sink when it solidify. Gargle with warm water. Brush your teeth!

That's it! Give it a try. Nothing to lose right? And let me know how it worked for you. :)

ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

"Friends pick us up when we fall down, and if they can't pick us up, they lay down and listen for a while."

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, is an activity involving dumping a bucket of ice water on someone's head to promote awareness of the disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and encourage donations to research. Thanks again Wiki! B-) What is Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis? ALS is also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease - is a progressive neuromuscular disease in which nerve cells die and leave voluntary muscles paralyzed. To learn and more and donate please click this ALS.

Finally got a chance to post this! Took me a month. :-SS But hey there is a bonus video! Ladies night with my loves. First we wanted to go for high tea, but instead we ended up doing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. It's for a good cause. :) And we got a chance to see the new place of Amanda and Leeanza. Thanks for having us! :x Can't wait to see y'all this Saturday! :D
